WE HAVE TO KNOW THIS STUFF...
••
All you need to know is that we know it. But if you're really interested,
here are some facts about concrete:

1. Concrete is the most versatile building product in the world.
When it has been properly placed, cured and protected it will last longer than
any other building material available today.

2. Concrete and cement ARE not the same thing.
Concrete is the finished product, and is a mixture of cement, sand, rock, water
and additives. Cement is simply a part of concrete. It is rarely, if ever, used by itself.

3. Proper curing is essential to concrete.
To achieve maximum durability, concrete should be kept moist for at least 5-7 days after it has been poured. (This is the period when you might want to scratch your name into it.) After that, it must be given adequate time to dry before it is exposed to severe weather or chemicals. If concrete is not cured properly, it will only achieve a small percentage of it's strength potential, and will be susceptible to cracking and shrinking.

4. Mudjacking isn't as painful as it sounds.
Actually it's an effective method of lifting sinking or sagging porches, streets, driveways, etc. The simple description of the process is this – holes are drilled through the concrete surface, and then “grout” is pressure pumped into the ground beneath the concrete to lift it back into place.

5. Epoxy resin injection fixes cracked foundations.
Many times, when a foundation fails, the concrete cracks. The resulting cracks are very weak points and need to be fixed to maintain structural integrity. With epoxy injection, a high-strength glue is injected into these cracks, making the cracks stronger than the original concrete.

6. The first concrete structures were built in 5600 B.C.

We have not worked on any of these structures, but we will work on anything.

7. Concrete will last between 20-40 years without needing repair.
If it is properly placed, cured and protected, concrete will last longer than most marriages.

8. 60% of US highways are made of concrete.
It was the natural choice due to its durability, traction and reflective properties.

9. The Grand Coulee Dam is the largest concrete structure in the world.

You think you have a lot of concrete to take care of? The dam contains 12,000,000 cubic yards of concrete. And yes, we would like that account.
